Volunteer Programme
TRC runs a small international
volunteer programme. Since the project started, we have had volunteers
from the Netherlands, Canada and Ireland who have been invaluable in
helping to establish the Centre. Our Volunteer Programme has a lot to
offer in terms of role flexibility, time commitment, low cost, and most
importantly, the huge impact volunteers can have in developing the
project.
- ESL/TEFL teaching
- Primary school administration and
education development
- Administrators/ management personnel
- Grant writing
- Agriculture/ farm management
- Qualified, experienced medical and
health professionals with knowledge of tropical medicine
If you feel that your particular skills
and experience do not fit into any of the above roles but you are still
interested in volunteering, please feel free to contact us. The
volunteer programme is designed to be flexible. We are looking for
people who will make a long-lasting contribution to the development of
the project and are open to applications from anyone who feels they fit
this role.
Volunteers live on site at the Centre with the staff which provides a
fantastic opportunity to live and work in rural Uganda, gain an in-depth
understanding of the area, culture (and language!) and really become
part of the local community. Accommodations are very good by local
standards but perhaps more basic than you are used to at home.
Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 3 months at the Centre,
though some exceptions can be made.
The costs of the programme are kept very low. Volunteers are expected to
pay the cost of their flight and to make a small monthly contribution
towards the cost of their food and accommodation. Apart from this, the TRC
volunteer programme has no set costs. While we don't require an
obligatory donation, any contributions (big or small) are welcome as
they go a very long way in such a small-scale project.
